Upgrade note: Apply the normal database migrations before starting Engine 2.13.0. This release adds persistent records for Vancian magic, magical substances, environmental state and gathering operations, and native language and accent roles. Use Database Seeder 3.6.1 for new installations.

Vancian Magic

Builders can configure spell repertoires, prepared and spontaneous casting allowances, cantrips, recovery rules, spellbooks and charged scrolls. Players can browse eligible spells, maintain loadouts, prepare castings and spend individual slots through their school's verb. The engine preserves expenditure and choices across restarts and checks book access and costs when a preparation or writing action completes. This is an engine framework: the release does not install a stock class, spellbook or spell catalogue.

Environmental Magic and Gathering

Builders can attach resource-producing environmental profiles to physical cells or terrain defaults. Profiles can use local forage and agriculture as inputs, regenerate bounded magic resources, and retain ecological scars and pressure from destructive use. Capability-owned Self, Gentle and Land gathering methods provide timed ways to gain personal resources, with explicit bodily costs, exact local resource debits or configured native organic yield consumption. Land gathering can suppress later forage and agricultural production through the profile's authored penalties. No gathering method is granted implicitly; builders must configure the capability and its permitted sources.

Magical Substances

New builder tools create magical substances carried by liquids, gases, food, pills, creams, smokeables and incense. A substance can deliver compatible spell effects through ingestion, injection, inhalation or contact, with authored dose thresholds, stacking and lifecycles. Dose and timed effects survive saving and loading, while physical liquid transfer and removal continue to affect retained coatings. The release supplies the system and editor, not a default potion or alchemy catalogue.

Character Creation and Reliability

Skill-selection groups can now allocate mandatory, grouped and open skill choices under shared pricing and eligibility rules. A rerollable characteristic screen lets applicants keep, lock or customise ethnicity-based rolls; races without characteristic definitions can complete with custom descriptions. Native-language and accent roles give generated characters and NPCs more reliable starting speech choices. This release also fixes startup migration-history gaps, group spell resolution, missing name-pool crashes, media still timestamp validation and psychic speech formatting.
