The steal command is used to secretly steal from another character's open worn or held containers, or cut a belted item free from one of their belts. Belt-cutting requires a held or wielded item tagged by the CutPurseToolTagName static configuration.
The syntax is as follows:
steal <person> - steal a random item from an open container or belt
steal <person> <container|belt> - steal a random item from a specific open container or belt
steal <person> from <container|belt> - steal a random item from a specific open container or belt
steal <person> [<quantity>] <item> - steal an item from any open container
steal <person> [<quantity>] <item> from <container> - steal an item from a specific open container
steal <person> [exactly] <currency> - steal money from any open container
steal <person> [exactly] <currency> from <container> - steal money from a specific open container
steal <person> <belted item> from <belt> - cut a belted item free
