SetRegister
Help on SetRegister
Sets an existing register variable on one target without executing a prog.
setregister <type> <target> <variablename> <value>
The type is the target's FutureProg type. The variable must already exist (see register show <type>). Its declared type determines how the value is parsed. Targets and values use the same resolver as prog execute: for example, location targets accept here or a room ID, and durable world references accept the IDs or names supported by that type. Quote targets or variable names containing spaces. Text values may contain spaces or be quoted; use "" for empty text. Reference values accept null, but the target cannot be null. Collections use space-separated elements, optionally enclosed in parentheses, with quotes around individual text elements.
Examples (assuming these variables have been registered):
setregister location here reputation 25
setregister location 123 notice The gate is closed.
setregister location here owner null
This sets only the target's stored value; it does not change the variable's default. Use sniff to inspect register values on rooms, items and characters.
