Convict

Crime · player

Command words: convict
Permission: Any

The convict command is used to manually record a conviction of guilty and assign a punishment to a criminal who is being held in custody. This would be intended to be used by PC or NPC Enforcers when a trial is being roleplayed, in lieu of using the automated systems for these things.

Typically this command would be used on a prisoner who another enforcer has used the takecustody command over, or on a defendant in a PC-held trial started with trial summon. Otherwise, NPC enforcers might drag them back to prison and any convictions for multiple crimes would be applied immediately rather than at a time of your choosing.

Both you and the criminal need to be in the court room of the legal jurisdiction you're convicting them for.

Note also the acquit command which is used to register a finding of not guilty.

When the last known charge is finalised in a PC-held trial, the defendant will be released, sent to prison, or sent to holding for execution according to the recorded sentences.

There are the following syntaxes for this command:

convict <target> - see a list of crimes you could convict a target of
convict <target> <crime ID> - see what punishments you could apply for a specified crime
convict <target> <crime ID> <options> - convict them of the crime, and apply the listed punishments

You can use the following options for punishments, can can include multiples in your conviction:

death - sentences them to death
jail <time> - sentences them to a custodial sentence
fine <amount> - sentences them to have a fine
goodbehaviour - sentences them to a good behaviour bond
nothing - record a conviction, but apply no punishment (must be only argument)
